Best Stays
Ranked by verified guest reviews — the best-rated stays on the island
Boracay's hotels are concentrated along White Beach — a 4-km powder-sand strip facing the Sibuyan Sea — and the quieter Bulabog Beach on the east coast. Station 1 (north) has Boracay's most upscale properties, including Shangri-La Boracay (the island's landmark five-star resort on a private headland north of White Beach) and several boutique beachfront hotels with direct beach access. Station 2 has the most mid-range options and is closest to D'Mall. Station 3 has budget accommodation and is quietest. Rankings reflect verified guest review ratings.
How are these rankings determined?
Rankings are based on verified guest review ratings submitted through the Island Seeker directory. Businesses are sorted by average rating (highest first), with ties broken by total review count and featured status. The list is updated in real time as new verified reviews are submitted. Only active, verified listings appear.
insider tips
Book Station 1 beachfront rooms early for peak season
The best beachfront rooms at Station 1 — particularly at boutique resorts with direct access to the best stretch of White Beach — book out 3–4 months in advance for December–April peak season. For Christmas and New Year specifically, availability at quality properties disappears by September. Shangri-La Boracay books even earlier — 6 months ahead is not unusual for the best room categories during the holiday peak.
The island is small — location affects your experience less than in Bali
Boracay is only 7 km long and 1 km wide. A tricycle ride from Station 3 to Station 1 takes 10 minutes and costs PHP 10–20. A walk from one end of White Beach to the other takes about 40 minutes. This means accommodation location matters less in Boracay than in Bali or Phuket — even a budget guesthouse at Station 3 gives easy access to the entire island's activities.
The rehabilitation changed the island significantly
Boracay was closed for a full government-mandated rehabilitation in 2018 due to severe environmental degradation. Since reopening in October 2018, the beach is cleaner, construction is regulated, and environmental standards are enforced more seriously. The island is significantly better than before 2018 — the rehabilitation was genuinely transformative. Visitor numbers are now regulated, with daily caps on tourist arrivals.
Bulabog Beach is the world's top kiteboarding destination in season
From late November to May, Bulabog Beach on Boracay's east coast hosts the world's densest concentration of kiteboarding operations. The consistent amihan (northeast trade winds) provide ideal conditions for kiteboarding and windsurfing across a shallow sandy bay. World-class kiteboarding schools offer lessons for beginners. The annual Paraw Regatta and various kite festivals make the beach a destination in its own right for wind-sports enthusiasts.
questions & answers
What is the best hotel in Boracay?
Shangri-La Boracay, on a private headland north of White Beach with its own beach and extensive resort facilities, consistently ranks as the island's finest hotel. On White Beach itself, Astoria Boracay and The Lind Boracay receive strong guest review ratings. For mid-range stays with direct beach access, several Station 2 boutique resorts offer the best balance of location and value. See the current ranked list above for live ratings.
Where should I stay in Boracay — Station 1, 2, or 3?
Station 1 (north White Beach) is the quietest and most upscale part of the beach — larger waves for kitesurfing, fewer vendors, cleaner sand. Station 2 (middle) is the most central and convenient — D'Mall, most restaurants, water sports operators, and the busiest beach section are all here. Station 3 (south) is the most affordable and local, with less tourist development and more authentic Philippine beach town character. For first-time visitors, Station 2 offers the most convenience.
How much do hotels cost in Boracay?
Budget guesthouses at Station 3 start from PHP 800–2,000 ($14–$35) per night. Mid-range beachfront hotels at Station 2 run PHP 3,000–8,000 ($52–$140). Boutique resorts with direct White Beach access cost PHP 6,000–15,000 ($104–$260). Shangri-La Boracay starts from approximately $300/night. Prices peak during Christmas–New Year and the Holy Week (March/April) when rates can double and rooms book out months in advance.
Should I stay on White Beach or Bulabog Beach?
White Beach is Boracay's famous west-facing sunset beach — calm swimming water, powder sand, and the island's entire restaurant and nightlife strip. Stay here for the classic Boracay beach experience. Bulabog Beach on the east coast is the global epicentre of kiteboarding — if you kitesurf or windsurf, this is your beach (the easterly amihan winds blow consistently November–May). Bulabog is less developed and quieter — good for surfers and those who prefer a low-key scene, but you'll need to cross the narrow island to reach restaurants.
